Paper accepted: A parametrized family of Tversky metrics connecting the Jaccard distance to an analogue of the normalized information distance
Otu and Sayood's metrics \(d, d_1, d^*, d_1^*\) were tested on a set of virus genomes: Covid-19, Sars 2003, Ebola, HIV, common cold. They all agreed that the phylogenetic tree should be:
[ [ sarsBJ,covid ], [ ebola, [ hiv, commonCold ] ] ]except that \(d_1\), the one without a denominator and using max instead of +, thought that Sars and Covid were not that closely related. None of them found the correct tree.
